AS Roma are delighted to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Robin Olsen from Danish side FC Copenhagen.

Olsen joins for an initial fee of €8.5 million. The deal also includes a number of performance-related clauses, on the part of both the player and the buying club, that could be worth an additional €3.5m.

As part of the deal, Copenhagen retain the right to 10% of any profit should Olsen be sold in the future – factoring in the initial fee and any bonuses that have been paid upto that point.

The 28-year-old has signed a five-year contract that runs until 30 June 2023.

"I’m feeling happy, I'm very excited," Olsen said.

"It’s a big honour to come to AS Roma. It’s the next step for me and I cannot wait to get started."

Olsen is a graduate of Malmo’s academy system, and has represented Danish side Copenhagen for the last three seasons.

A full Sweden international, Olsen made his debut for the national team in January 2015. He has gone on to make 23 appearances for his country, and was an ever-present at this summer’s World Cup in Russia – as Sweden reached the quarter-finals.

"Robin is a goalkeeper with international experience, and I think he can bring that level to Roma with him," sporting director Monchi said.

"I am confident he can build on the quality that has seen him firmly establish himself as Sweden's No. 1."

During his career to date, Olsen has won the Swedish league title twice, the Swedish Cup once, the Danish league title twice and the Danish Cup twice.

He will wear the No. 1 shirt at Roma.
